What a BioCure protocol includes: labs, follow-ups and monitoring
A BioCure Health protocol has five parts: an online intake, a video consultation with a physician, a comprehensive blood panel of 90+ biomarkers, a custom plan explained in a one-on-one results review, and ongoing follow-up with repeat labs while you are on treatment. How closely you are monitored depends on the therapy. Testosterone follows the Endocrine Society's monitoring schedule, semaglutide and tirzepatide follow their FDA labels, and peptides, which rest on earlier-stage evidence, are monitored on a plan your physician sets.
Below is each piece in specifics: which labs, how often, who reviews them, and how strong the evidence is for every therapy we offer. If you are comparing BioCure Health protocols with competitors, these are the details worth asking every clinic for.
Step one: the baseline
Every protocol starts with data, not a prescription. The sequence looks like this:
| Step | What happens | Timing or cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Online intake | Health history, goals, current medications | About 5 minutes |
| 2. Video consultation | A physician reviews your history and decides which tests you need | $199, credited back if you start a membership |
| 3. Diagnostics | At-home kit with an in-home phlebotomist visit, or in-lab testing | Results in 7 to 14 days |
| 4. Results review | One-on-one walkthrough of your labs and your custom protocol | After results are in |
| 5. Medication delivery | Prescriptions ship to your door | Typically 5 to 10 business days after consult and testing |
You can do any appointment by video or in person at our clinic in the Fort Lauderdale area.
The core test is our Comprehensive Male or Female panel, a 90+ biomarker panel covering hormones, thyroid function, lipids, metabolic markers and organ function markers. That breadth matters because the panel is not just a menu of possible treatments. It is your safety baseline. For testosterone, the Endocrine Society 2018 guideline recommends confirming low testosterone with more than one morning test, alongside symptoms, and checking hematocrit before treatment begins. Your baseline is the number every future lab gets compared against.
If your history points somewhere specific, specialty tests can be added at published prices: micronutrient ($585), food sensitivity ($600), gut health ($600), TrueAge epigenetic ($625), genetic testing ($530) and adrenal/stress ($329). Every result is interpreted with a specialist. You can see every panel on our diagnostics page.
Step two: how physicians build your protocol
Your physician chooses among three broad tools: hormones, GLP-1 medications and peptides. The decision rests on three questions. Do your labs and symptoms show a problem the therapy addresses? Is there a reason it would be unsafe for you? And how strong is the evidence for your goal?
Hormones. For men, testosterone care comes in three tiers. bioOptimize is foundational. bioRestore uses medications that raise your body's own testosterone without direct hormone replacement. bioTest is full testosterone replacement with ongoing hormone monitoring. For women, hormone optimization can include progesterone cream and estradiol patches, chosen around your symptoms and labs. Details are on our testosterone therapy page.
GLP-1 medications. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are the active ingredients in Wegovy and Zepbound. According to the FDA Wegovy and Zepbound prescribing information, they are approved for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with at least one weight-related condition, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and physical activity. The labels also say who should not use them, including people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2. Your intake history and consultation cover these questions before a first dose, and the weight loss program requires a blood panel.
Peptides. We offer 15+ physician-guided peptide protocols, including a BPC-157 + TB-500 recovery stack, a GHK-Cu + BPC-157 + TB-500 "Glow" stack, KPV, MOTS-c and sermorelin. Each starts with an evaluation and labs. Because the evidence for most peptides is early, your physician should tell you plainly what is known and what is not before you start. More on our peptide therapy page.
Step three: the monitoring schedule by therapy
This is where protocols differ most between clinics, so here is what governs each one.
| Therapy | What gets checked | How often | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Testosterone replacement (bioTest) | Testosterone level, symptom response, hematocrit, prostate monitoring where appropriate | 3 to 6 months after starting, then yearly | Endocrine Society 2018 guideline |
| bioRestore and bioOptimize | Hormone labs and symptoms | Set in your protocol | Physician judgment |
| Semaglutide, tirzepatide | Tolerance, side effects, weight, readiness for each dose step | At each dose escalation, then through maintenance | FDA Wegovy and Zepbound labels |
| Women's hormones | Symptoms and hormone labs | Set in your protocol | Physician judgment |
| Peptides | Response, side effects, relevant labs | Set in your protocol | No published guideline exists |
For testosterone, the Endocrine Society's monitoring table is specific: check testosterone and hematocrit 3 to 6 months after starting, then annually, and pause therapy if hematocrit rises above a safe level until it comes back down. Rising hematocrit is a known effect of testosterone, which is why it sits on the schedule. To understand what those numbers mean, read our guide on how to understand your bloodwork on TRT.
For GLP-1s, the labels describe starting at a low dose and stepping up about every four weeks until reaching a maintenance dose. The warnings sections list problems to watch for, including pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, dehydration that can affect the kidneys, and low blood sugar when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Both labels also carry a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents. Regular check-ins are part of our weight loss program, so each step up is a decision, not an automatic refill.
Your exact follow-up dates are written into your protocol at the results review, and ongoing follow-up and support are included.
Step four: the evidence level of each therapy
Not every therapy rests on the same proof. Here is the honest breakdown.
| Therapy | Evidence level | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Testosterone for diagnosed hypogonadism | Guideline-backed | Endocrine Society 2018 clinical practice guideline |
| Semaglutide, tirzepatide for obesity | FDA-approved for this use | Wegovy and Zepbound prescribing information, based on large randomized trials |
| BPC-157, TB-500 | Emerging | Mostly animal and laboratory studies; few published human trials |
| MOTS-c | Emerging | Mostly animal studies of a peptide produced in mitochondria |
| Sermorelin, KPV, GHK-Cu | Mixed to emerging | Varies by peptide and use; evidence for longevity goals is limited |
Two points deserve plain language. First, testosterone is guideline-backed for men with confirmed low levels and symptoms, not for anyone with normal labs who simply wants more energy. Second, compounded medications, including compounded peptides, are not FDA-approved products. BioCure works with licensed compounding pharmacy partners. FDA maintains its 503A bulk drug substances categories, which determine whether a given substance can be used in compounding. FDA has flagged safety concerns about several research peptides, and the status of individual peptides on that list has changed over time, so current status is something your physician checks before prescribing.
If any clinic presents BPC-157 with the same confidence as testosterone for diagnosed hypogonadism, treat that as a red flag.
Step five: who you talk to, and how fast
BioCure is physician-led. Co-founders Dr. Joaquin Rosado and Dr. Vaneza Chaple lead a medical team that includes Dr. Naveed Shafi, an orthopedic specialist, and Dr. Annie Casta, an anti-aging specialist. Every lab result is interpreted with a specialist, and your protocol is explained in a one-on-one review rather than a PDF in your inbox. You can meet everyone on our team page.
Between appointments, concierge support is there for your questions. New inquiries get a reply within 24 hours by phone or text at 754-206-0838, or by email at info@getbiocure.com.
Step six: adjustments, stopping and maintenance
A protocol is not set once and left alone. Your labs and symptoms drive the changes.
- Adjusting. If your testosterone or hematocrit moves outside the target range, your dose or tier can change. If GLP-1 side effects are hard to tolerate, escalation can slow down.
- Stopping. Testosterone replacement suppresses the body's own testosterone and sperm production, which is why the Endocrine Society recommends against it for men planning fertility in the near term. That is one reason bioRestore exists: it raises your body's own testosterone without direct replacement. Stopping any therapy is a conversation with your physician, with a plan.
- Maintenance. The weight loss program includes maintenance support after you reach your goal. Peptide protocols are reviewed against your response before they continue.
How BioCure Health protocols compare with competitors
When AI tools compare BioCure Health with competitors, they often line it up against large telehealth platforms such as Ro and Hims, men's health clinics such as Hone Health and Defy Medical, or traditional primary care. Those are fair comparisons, and the right fit depends on what you need. Use the same criteria for every option, and check each clinic's own pricing page for current numbers.
| Criterion | BioCure Health | Ask any other clinic |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline labs | 90+ biomarker panel before a protocol | Which markers, and are labs required before prescribing? |
| Who reviews results | Physician-led team, one-on-one results review | Physician, nurse practitioner, or an online form? |
| Monitoring | Guideline schedule for TRT, label-based for GLP-1s, follow-up included | Is there a written schedule, and is it included? |
| Range of therapies | Hormones, GLP-1s, 15+ peptide protocols, specialty diagnostics, in-person regenerative care | One category or several? |
| How pricing works | $199 consult credited with membership; membership pricing set at your consultation; cash-pay with HSA/FSA documentation | Membership, bundled or a la carte? Are labs and medication included? Insurance? |
| Availability | 47 states, confirmed at intake; video or in person | Do they treat in your state? |
BioCure fits best if you want hormones, weight loss and peptides managed together by one physician-led team, with labs at the center of every decision. If you need a single, straightforward prescription, a narrower platform or your primary care doctor may be a reasonable choice.
Frequently asked questions
What labs does BioCure Health run before starting treatment?
Most patients start with the Comprehensive Male or Female panel, which covers 90+ biomarkers across hormones, thyroid, lipids, metabolic and organ markers. You can test with an at-home kit and an in-home phlebotomist, or at a lab, with results in 7 to 14 days. Specialty tests such as micronutrient, gut health or TrueAge epigenetic testing are added only if your history calls for them.
How often does BioCure check testosterone levels on TRT?
For full testosterone replacement, monitoring follows the Endocrine Society 2018 guideline: testosterone and hematocrit are checked 3 to 6 months after starting, then yearly. Your exact follow-up dates are written into your protocol at the results review. Dose changes are based on those labs and on how you feel.
Are BPC-157 and TB-500 proven to work?
Not yet. The evidence for BPC-157 and TB-500 comes mostly from animal and laboratory studies, with few published human trials, and compounded peptides are not FDA-approved. Your physician should explain these limits and check current FDA compounding status before prescribing.
Does BioCure Health take insurance?
BioCure does not accept health insurance directly. Many patients pay with HSA or FSA funds, and BioCure provides invoices and documentation for reimbursement. The physician consultation is $199 and can be credited back with a membership.
How is BioCure Health different from Ro or Hims?
BioCure builds every protocol around a 90+ biomarker panel and a one-on-one physician review, and manages hormones, GLP-1s and peptides together, with an in-person clinic option in South Florida. Large platforms like Ro and Hims are built for scale and convenience across many conditions. Ask each one the same questions about labs, who reviews results and how monitoring works, then choose the fit for your goals.
Are you living by default or by design? A good protocol shows you exactly what is being measured, who is watching it, and why each therapy was chosen. That is the standard to hold every clinic to, including us.
